Ruth Anderson Dental Hygienist
Carly Garbutt Dental Hygiene Therapist
Carly was born in Barnstaple Hospital in North Devon and was brought up in the quaint, picturesque coastal town Ilfracombe. She grew up with freedom in the countryside and owned a horse of her very own and two dogs. Carly is an animal lover through and through.
Carly landed a job as a trainee nurse in 2007 and qualified as a dental nurse in early 2009. She completed two post qualification courses in radiography and oral hygiene education and was working with a private specialist practice doing everything from simple general dentistry to implants, oral surgery and facial rejuvenation. When her dentist retired, she felt she needed to spread her wings and so the adventure began.
Carly first moved to Bournemouth briefly in 2012 after being a dental nurse for 5 years where she met her Fiancé who, at the time was managing local hotels. They both decided to move to London to peruse their careers. It was while working in London; Carly got her break and was offered a place at the University of Essex. Finally she had been accepted onto the dental hygiene course. Carly and her fiancé Dominic moved to in Essex for 2 years for the duration of the course.
Carly had started the course 7 months pregnant, saw through the course and qualified with a distinction. With their daughter now 2 years old, Carly and Dominic decided to move back to North Devon and started working privately for an NHS practice as a hygienist. Carly did that for a year and chose to return to the University of Essex to extend her degree and embark on a 1 year part time Dental Therapy course.
Carly qualified as a Dental Therapist with a first degree honours in December 2018 and thoroughly loves her career. She loved Devon but felt Bournemouth was calling again. Carly saw the position for a hygienist advertised at 740 Dental and jumped at the chance; she got the job and started at the end of July 2019. Carly is really looking forward to what the future holds at 740 Dental. She will be offering a full range of treatments including simple and complex hygiene treatments, Fillings, extraction of milk teeth, whitening treatments and much more.
Carly has a lot of experience in both NHS and private practice and has a broad knowledge in dentistry. Carly thoroughly loves her job and loves treating her patients with empathy and care. Carly is very laid back and down to earth and keen to pass her knowledge on to her patients.
Carly and Dominic now live locally with their daughter and are looking to settle as their daughter has just started school nearby.
In her own time, Carly loves the outdoors having grown up in the countryside and a coastal town so she goes on lovely walks and heads down to the beach with her 2 Chihuahuas and 1 Rottweiler.
Carly and her family love to travel, she has been to Cuba, Some of Europe, Kenya, Mexico, USA, Philippines, Bali and has many more destinations to cross off her list. Carly also has Bengal cat which is her daughter Mia’s cat; she is named after Marie from the film The Aristocats; they all love their fur babies! Carly is also a paranormal investigator and part of a team in North Devon so she goes to her home town from time to time to carry out investigations.
